Setup

The Start page

See what AIObox needs on your computer and install what is missing.

What is the Start page?

The first item in the sidebar. It shows whether this computer has what AIObox needs, installs what is missing and lists your first steps. It has no number key, so Dashboard through Settings keep keys 1 to 8. When AIObox opens and something needed is missing, it goes there by itself, and a gold dot on Start names what is left.

What does it check?

  • Required: a Chromium browser, meaning Chrome, Edge or Brave.
  • For AI agents: Node.js 22 or later, and AkiMCP.
  • Optional: cloudflared, for the Tunnels page.

Each card shows the version and path it found. A missing tool shows the exact command, with Copy, Install and a link to its download page; the command shown is the one that runs.

How do I install what is missing?

Press Install missing. It installs the browser, then Node.js, then AkiMCP, one at a time, and stops at the first failure with the error it got. cloudflared is never in that queue; install it from its own card. On a Mac it installs through Homebrew; without Homebrew, the page offers to run Homebrew's official installer in Terminal, where you type your Mac password; AIObox never sees it. On Windows it installs through winget.

I installed something myself. Does it see it?

Yes. AIObox finds a tool by its program, so a browser installed a minute ago and never opened counts. It checks again when the app starts, when you open Start, after each install, when you press Check again and when you come back to AIObox while Start is open.
